Rock Meivo

Better known for its solid laptops, Rock·s Meivo has been around for about half a year or so, and is clearly designed to straddle that tricky area of the ·lifestyle· PC. The result is an all-in-one that is very reminiscent of the Sony LX range, which is to say good looking. Its 22in 1,680x1,050 widescreen display isn·t large enough to replace most people·s living room TVs, but it certainly wouldn·t look out of place as it hides its PC roots exceptionally well. Everything is integrated: 802.11a/b/g, Bluetooth, a single analog/digital TV tuner, webcam and awful Intel graphics.

The Core 2 Duo E4300 is good enough, decoding h.264 1080p content with an average CPU usage of 54.9 per cent and scoring 547 in Cinebench. Our main disappointment was the small 250GB drive size, along with the ropey wireless keyboard and mouse, but these are really minor quibbles. Interestingly, Rock hopes to have a HD DVD version ready by the time you read this.
