Rock Pegasus 665 T72

Gaming laptop can be bulky and expensive, but the Pegasus 665 offers gamers a portable and affordable alterative. The Rock’s 2Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo T7200 Processor means it can cope well running multiple applications and it handles games with no noticeable jerkiness, although it may struggle at higher quality settings. The Pegasus’ design is solid with sturdy hinges. At 3.1 Kg it’s hardly the lightest laptop, but it could be easily transported. It would make a suitable desktop replacement due to it’s high-end nVdia Geforce Go 7600 graphics card. However while the hard disk capacity is ample, we would have liked to see 2Gb of ram for the money. The keyboard is easy to use and there’s a handy button to deactivate the keyboard touchpad – useful if you like watching movies on the go. The touchpad is large and simple to use, although the narrow buttons below are difficult to distinguish from the touchpad. Alternatively, a selection of buttons will launch the email client and web browser. There’s even a silent running button to turn off the fan and run the laptop on low power. We found that gameplay was smooth and colours were true, however, while the glossy WXGA screen was impressive when viewed straight on, it was less so in some light conditions and when viewed from above. Plus, the two small speakers at the top of the keyboard are not substantial enough and the built-in microphone provides poor-quality , tinny recordings. The Pegasus isn’t as well featured as we’d like, tacking a TV Tuner, Bluetooth connectivity and a webcam. Plus, it offers only three USB ports. However, the Rock has full wireless facilities and comes with a great warranty.

Verdict

Although the Pegasus 665 T72 is Quick, powerful and portable, its lack of memory marks it down, however, its display is impressive for gaming.
