News / rock appoints new people

14-08-2022

Warwick 10th August 2007, rock today announced the appointment of Paul Shenton as Business Development Manager and James Dean as PR & Marketing Manager.

Rock’s continued success in a growing, yet increasingly competitive market spurred the decision to recruit two industry professionals to further develop high-end notebook and meivo sales. Nick Boardman, rock CEO remarked “rock has been in business for over 15 years and seen the demise of many UK system integrators mainly due to the struggle of competing against Tier 1 pricing”. He continued “the combination of a strong brand and good industry partnerships has kept rock very much alive.”

Shenton spent his last 7 years as a Channel FAE at Intel and 10 years previously in several distribution management roles. He commented “I’m very happy to be joining a team that thrives on taking technology to the next level and look forward to applying my vast experience in distribution to build on the success rock has already achieved”.

James’ industry experience stems from writing articles for IT publications over 8 years ago. He moved into Product Management and most recently made a success of his own PR & Marketing Company. “I’m thrilled to be taking the position of PR & Marketing Manager at rock. Working with cutting edge technology and an excellent range of products is very exciting and naturally makes the role enjoyable, yet challenging” he said.

2007 has been a busy year for rock, meivo (a unique 22” LCD TV PC) was launched in March, Laptopsdirect and Scan were signed as resellers of rock’s entire portfolio of products and Gem as distributor for meivo. Boardman commented, “With Internet TV and IPTV content growing, plus our new range of notebooks, this could not be a better time for rock. The strategy moving forward is to build both brands through signing more channel and online partners and focus on increasing our brand awareness. In order for rock to achieve this I have to invest in the right people. Paul and James have been appointed to take on the task, they are well respected in the industry and come with a wealth of experience in their fields”.
