Growing British manufacturing success story bucks market trends and secures 21st position in Sunday Times - Deloitte ·Buyout Track 10· league table

Stone Group, a leading IT provider and the UK·s largest privately owned PC manufacturer, has today announced that its success has been recognised by two of the UK·s most hotly-contested business award programmes, the Sunday Times - Deloitte ·Buyout Track 100·, and ·Fast Growth Business Awards·, organised by popular business magazine Growing Business.

The Sunday Times - Deloitte ·Buyout Track 100· league table ranks Britain·s top 100 private equity-backed companies with the fastest-growing profits over the latest two years, with two-year annual profit growth ranging between 22% and 122%, and profits between £3m and £50m. In the league of UK companies, Stone Group was ranked 21st overall, and 3rd highest in the IT market ahead of companies from the aerospace, pharmaceutical, healthcare and medical industries.

Stone has also been recognized by popular business magazine Growing Business, in its ·Fast Growth Business Awards·. Nominated as one of four finalists in the category of ·Service Business of the Year·, these awards honour the most pioneering and creative businesses and entrepreneurial owners, and present a chance to prove to the business community that a company has performed exceptionally, is fast-growing and is set to be a household name of the future. The winners of the ·Fast Growth Business Awards· will be announced over a gala dinner on Wednesday 18th March 2009, at the prestigious London Marriott in Grosvenor Square.

Commenting on the industry accolades, James Bird, Stone Group·s CEO, said: "The Sunday Times - Deloitte ·Buyout Track 100· and the ·Fast Growth Business Awards· both have a great track record, not just for recognizing businesses that have already enjoyed sustained growth, but also for identifying businesses that are on the cusp of significant market success. It is a real honour for Stone to be recognised by both of these highly respected awards, and it is testimony to the team·s hard work and commitment to customer service that has underpinned Stone·s success to date."

Stone Group is already widely acknowledged as an example of a successful, dynamic and growing British manufacturing company. Under the leadership of its experienced management team, Stone has enjoyed considerable growth in the public sector, where its reputation for industry leading customer support and product reliability, has made it a favourite supplier to the UK·s education sector. These qualities, combined with its standard three year next-day on-site warranty, have helped the company win many industry and public sector specific supplier accreditations.

Most recently, Stone Computers was announced as a participant in a pilot for Becta·s ·Next Generation Learning Home Access Programme·. This programme is designed to enable all families to have access to the internet at home and provide learning equality for students through the provision of a powerful computer, education software and secure internet access all optimised for a student·s education needs.
